Staff Accountant

STAFF ACCOUNTANT

Perform daily and monthly accounting and reporting activities generally falling within Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions. This generalist position prepares the high-performing accountant for later positions as an Accounting Manager or Controller.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Accounting:

  • Performs daily invoicing and accounts payable posting. Perform daily and monthly accounting functions including cash reconcilements, preparation of journal entries including entries for prepaid expenses and accrued liabilities, calculation of sales commissions, and other similar duties.
  • Assist with completion of the monthly and annual financials.
  • Reconcile and post company credit card activity.

Other:

  • Act as back-up for payroll system and payroll related items
  • Perform such other accounting, financial, or administrative tasks as may be required from time to time – quite often on short notice - by the CFO.

REQUIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Experience with typical office software programs, in particular, Excel.
  • Able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a self-directed environment.
  • Able to work well within a diverse group. Has a strong and confident personality.
  • Ability to take on new tasks with increasing levels of self-direction and analysis; shows intellectual curiosity, empathy, and a service approach to his or her work and relationships.
  • The individual will be expected to work with minimal up-front guidance and take ownership of his / her work product. The individual will work closely with all major functional leaders of the Company.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
  • While attitude and potential are far more critical than experience, at least three to four years of progressively more responsible experience in a business environment would be very helpful.
